New Feature: Network and RAT Blocking/Unblocking in Coverage Policies
We have released a new feature that allows to block or unblock specific networks and RAT (Radio Access Technologies) directly within coverage policies via API and via Portal.
Key Benefits:
- Simplified Bulk Management:Customers can block networks and specific RATs in each network in a coverage policy, and the changes will automatically apply to all devices under that policy, saving time and effort.
- Prevent "Zombie Devices": By blocking networks types that are causing problems, customers can significantly reduce the number of "zombie devices"
- Cost Management:Tailor the networks available to your needs, picking and choosing when a higher-cost network should be available, even within the same country and for a specific group of devices using policies.
- Enhanced Scalability:Blocking at the endpoint level is useful for troubleshooting devices while policy-based management scales much better for a fleet of thousands, both for blocking and unblocking. We also added quick sorting for customers to have visibility of countries and RAT types blocked in a user-friendly interface.
How to Access the Feature:
- Navigate to the Device Policiessection.
- Open one of your Coverage Policies.
- Scroll down below the map to view and use the new blocking/unblocking feature.

Frequently Asked Question:
How is Blocking networks/RATs in Coverage policy different from blocking RATs in the Service policy or blocking networks per endpoint/device?
The service policy enables or disables RAT types for all devices at once, which is less flexible.
The coverage policy provides greater flexibility, allowing customers to fine-tune their configurations with additional options, such as:
- Disabling a RAT type for a single operator.
- Disabling a specific operator entirely.
