Network Connectivity in Russia
As informed by our roaming partners, a new connectivity restriction has been introduced in Russia affecting all foreign SIM cards entering the country.
According to our partners, any foreign SIM that registers activity within Russia will experience a mandatory 24-hour mobile internet blackout. During this period, affected SIMs will not be able to connect to any mobile network. After 24 hours, normal connectivity is expected to resume automatically.
Based on our experience, we have observed some deviations from the 24-hour rule, and services may remain intermittent even after the initial blackout period.
To minimize operational disruptions, we recommend adjusting device behavior as follows:
- Avoid aggressive reconnection attempts: Devices should not continuously retry network registration during the first 24 hours, as all attempts will be rejected.
- Implement delayed reconnection logic: If devices enter sleep mode or follow retry schedules, ensure they attempt to reconnect after at least 24 hours from initial activity in Russia.
We are monitoring the situation closely with our roaming partners and will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
