Advanced listing, filtering and sorting for devices & SIMs
in progress
Michael Streiner
Currently our device and SIM listing does not support too many detailed queries which we know you want to make like
- Filter devices by the last digits of the ICCID
- Filter devices by MSISDN
- Filter devices by currently connected mobile network operator
- Filter and sort devices by connectivity status
- Filter and sort devices by monthly consumption
- Filter SIMs which are active and connected to disabled devices
These are the most common I have heard of, if you have any further ones, please comment them below 💬
To enable those more complicated queries, we will revamp our devices and SIM API and with it, also integrate it in our new portal!

You should be able to sort all devices in the connected devices list by status and monthly usage not just the name.

We released New Filters Interface and New Search Bar on the portal to enable customers for faster device management, creating more complex filters, streamline troubleshooting and made interface more intuitive and simple.
Key Improvements:
- Faster Device Management: work with list of devices more efficiently. Copy multiple ICCIDs, quickly type and select among multiple filter options.
- Create Complex Custom Filters: create filtered lists based on specific criteria such as combining tags with device name with device status or coverage policy.
- Text search bar across multiple fields: search across all fields on the connected device page. Can be combined with filters.
- Improved User Interface: redesigned layout ensures a seamless user experience, enabling you to access essential features effortlessly.
We keep working on improving our filters functionality, please keep sharing your feedback and workflows that still not covered.

"Filter and sort devices by connectivity status"
Would it also be possible to filter by blocked devices? This is helpful when a limit has been exceeded and you want to search for this type of device.

Neil Elliot Can you briefly describe the expected behaviour in wildcard search of ICCID?
N
Neil Elliot
Vinita Katti:
Just like it works with the SIM Inventory page. Currently one can only match on full ICCID number.
example: search = "iccid: 8988303000001234567"
I would like it to work with wildcard at start or the end.
examples:
search = "iccid: *01234567"
search = "iccid: 89883030000012345*"
search = "iccid:
012345
"Even better would be to select a sequential range of ICCIDs, those that I have just registered and created end points for. This would let me avoid working on long lists of devices which can be cumbersome in the new Emnify Portal.
Thank you.

Any chance of implementing wildcard search of ICCID in Connected Devices? It is already available via the SIM Inventory page.

Service policies should also be sorted by name instead of ID

Thank you for all your input!
We have developed a first prototype and will soon do performance testing to see if it performs well enough to meet our scalability requirements across the milions of devices we are running.
I will work your comments in as best as possible and will let you know when we have any updates available or a demo version to test with you and get your feedback if it fulfills your requirements.

Michael Streiner: Is it possible to implement an auto-complete on Tag name entry? In other words, when typing a tag name a list of potential matching tags are suggested. This would be useful for both the search and the add tag features. It would assist with consistent naming of tags for devices and finding the right tag spelling when searching.

Add either a Search button to the device list, or do not auto-action the search until focus is moved away from search term field with a Tab or Return key press. The auto-action is more a hinderence than a help.
The device list is uneccesarily updating as I type. This affects both typing in search term, if I pause for a moment, and clearing text to retype. On the clear/retype the list will refresh itself to list all my devices first before I then type the actual search term.

Neil Elliot: This request has been completed and you can now search by pressing enter it won't do automatic search anymore.

Michael Streiner: Thank you. I appreciate the change.

Add wildcarding or partial searching to the IP address field.
Currently one has to enter full IPv4 address. This does not allow selection of multiple IPs. Neither does it allow for quick reference with last 1 or 2 octets (or double hextet should IPv6 be in use).

Add a filter option for searching both Name and Tag. In other words, search for the "text" in both the Name and the Tag fields.
Alternatively, do not clear "text" search field when switching from Name to Tag, or vice versa.
This would really help track down a device if it has not been named or tagged correctly (or there's a typo).
